Fall Issue of the PROWL

Yearbook/Desktop Publishing Students
The Fall issue of the PROWL Newspaper was just issued at the end of 1st Quarter and everyone did a fine job of word processing their articles, taking untold numbers of photos, photo editing in photoshop, and finally putting it all together in Publisher.

More Yearbook Student Photos

More photos taken by students for the yearbook of the end of the year production of selections from Shakespeare.

Yearbook Student Photos

Yearbook student photographers went to each class to take shots representative of that area. The Art Class photos were really excellent. The photographer would then return and use the Photoshop software to alter and crop for their final picture.

Lowell Jr. High

7th and 8th Grade students at Lowell working on multimedia presentations about topics of their choice in the Tech Lab.

Lowell Jr. High Students take a general technology class or a Yearbook/Newspaper desktop publishing class. They work hard to meet the Arizona tech standards.

Bisbee Middle School

"Hunt the FactMonster" is an online treasure hunt which is always full of fun facts.
Word processing projects are often assigned by the classroom teacher and worked on in collaboration with technology standards being taught in the lab.

The classroom teachers and I collaborate often on themes and ways to connect the learning in the lab with what they are doing in the classroom. 5th Graders studied Gods and Goddesses of Rome and were able to do their research, write the papers in Word and produce posters about their topics in the Tech Lab.

Thinking hard.
4th, 5th and 6th graders at BMS use the lab to do Webquests, word processing, creating and publishing documents, inquiry-based projects, research, practice keyboarding and more.

Math Blaster is a fun way to improve skills and speed.

Greenway Elementary Loves the Tux Type Program

First graders have fun learning the keyboard and getting all the fish for Tux the penguin. Tux Type and Paint are open source software programs that can be downloaded for free. Parents who want these programs at home can go to http://www.tuxpaint.org/ and follow the directions.

Tux Paint Program

Greenway students like to create artwork in the Tux Paint program and then print out their pictures to take home. They learn how to use a wide variety of paint tools, menus, stamps, and how to open, save and closed files and programs.
